Non Sleep Deep Rest

What if you could feel the benefits of deep sleep without being asleep? Well, the good news is that you can with non-sleep deep rest practices. Non-sleep deep rest or NSDR practices allow the body and mind to shift into a very relaxed state without needing to fall asleep. They mimic deep sleep and can be used to promote a state of calm, clarity, improved focus, and better learning. These practices can also help us to transition to sleep or support falling back asleep if woken in the night.

NSDR practices include certain forms of breathwork, meditation, movement like restorative yoga, and yoga nidra. They support down-regulation of the nervous system, helping to activate the parasympathetic system (also known as the rest and digest system).

Supporting nervous system health and shifting out of sympathetic fight or flight) activation Is a big part of what we cover in our signature course, Recalibrate. We learn about the nervous system, tools to support it and ways to powerfully make change in the way you live and feel.

We also explore the more physical manifestations of NSDR in our Restorative Yoga classes. These classes are designed to delve deeper into this practice and focus on ways to support your mind and body by moving gently, tuning in and supporting yourself.
